Philadelphia’s favorite sneaker shop UBIQ teams up with Diadora for a cross-continental collab of the N.9000. Stating that the shoe was “Conceptualized in Philly. Handcrafted in Italy.” The UBIQ team recently journeyed through northeast Italy to witness the beauty and experience the culture of the provinces, and also visited the Diadora factory to see their sneaker being made. UBIQ say they trekked throughout the Italian northeast provinces of Treviso and Venice to capture both the beautiful feel of Italy and the legacy of the famed brand. From the cliffs of Monte Grappa to the colors of Burano island to the Diadora factory in Caerano di San Marco, all they saw was put into this stunning red collab. The shoe is decked out in red, blue and yellow colors and sports soft cow grain suede uppers, co-branding on the tongue and heel, and heavy-duty, dual-wrap laces.

The UBIQ x Diadora N9000 will be available this Saturday, August 27th at limitEDitions.

We have yet to see colored boost from Adidas, fans of the boost sole is waiting patiently and the wait might be over soon. It looks like this NMD will be one of the first pairs to feature the colored boost and there is no doubt that it will sell out fast.

This month the Consortium Tour hits South Korea, arriving at sneaker emporium Kasina in Seoul. With each edition of the Consortium Tour adidas has offered an established retailer a footwear silhouette as a blank canvas and asked them to develop something new and unique.
Seoul is a style powerhouse, South Korean designers regularly produce stunning clothing. Construction is a cornerstone of Korean design and so is the idea of embracing traditional methods in the creation of modern styles.

While sneakers are Kasina’s bread and butter, here it incorporates design elements from more formal shoes and combine them with the winning concept of an early performance shoe. The result is a fusion of two footwear-making heritages. Kasina has imagined a prototype for the Superstar, long before it became an iconic sneaker, and based its model on traditional shoemaking.

Set in the mid-20th century, Kasina imagined this time as the birth hour of the Superstar. Their archetype version is inspired by that period’s aesthetic, the generation-old craft, and takes cues from classic saddle shoes. There is vintage color, high quality leathers, narrow, understated stripes, but still the shape and the unmistakable shelltoe.

Sneakers have been contrasted with formal clothing for decades, high fashion has increasingly embraced casual footwear. Year after year these previously parallel universes of fashion and sportswear find new ways of colliding.

The Kasina Superstar represents heritage footwear from an imagined past – it works with stunning effect.

Tinker Hatfield’s iconic Nike Air Safari creation has received the retro treatment countless times before but has since been on a little hiatus. NikeLab has updated the famed late-80s printed silhouette with the Nike Air Safari Royal, a premium menswear lifestyle take on the retro that paired a deconstructed suede upper with Vachetta Tan leather support for a head-turning albeit expensive twist.

The Nike Safari is back today in that “Royal” treatment featuring a mix of materials that provide both comfort and durability that will carry over from season to season. Dark and Pale Grey rendition pairs embossed Safari speckles on the toe and ankle collar with just the right amount of Vachetta Tan on the midsole and inner lining for a look appropriate for any occasion.

Nike is again turning up the quality on its Air Max 1 by issuing a couple more Pinnacle pairs. Shown here are black and white colorways both using mostly leather uppers with reflective material on the heel.

No doubt the most curious material choice here is the cork used for the insole, which hasn't been seen elsewhere on Pinnacle pairs. What is also visible is the Nike branding beneath the translucent outsole (the black pair gets a smoky outsole). With its “Pinnacle” tagline on the shoe, you can expect the materials to be top-notch and on point.

Boston-based New Balance teams up with leading online streetwear platform Hypebeast to launch a special collaboration for the classic MRT580 silhouette. Inspired by their curiosity for the unknown, the project gives birth to 2 distinctive models, an earth-inspired MRT580HT and a space-inspired re-engineered MRT580DH.

Originally designed as an off-road trail running shoe inspired by the Made in USA M585, the 580 was released in Japan in 1996. The silhouette soon became one of the most iconic trail shoes, attracting global sneakerheads and fashionistas since its 2000 collaborations with MITA and HECTIC. In 2013, MT580 was further updated to the MRT580 with the addition of REVlite cushioning technology. 2016 marks the style’s 20th anniversary, and this collaboration is one of the many 580 offerings coming out in celebration this year.

The earth-inspired MRT580HT channels imageries of overgrown “haikyo”, which fittingly means “abandoned place” as well as “exploration” in Japanese. Built for the curious city explorers, the shoe dons a suede upper with shades of earthy green that blend seamlessly into places where urban meets nature. Reflective details on signature N-logo and heel tab keep visibility high when venturing into the dark, and an insole with map contour line pattern echoes with the “earth” theme.

The MRT580DH, inspired by space exploration, is mysterious as the final frontier with a re-engineered black upper atop a white midsole, and splatters of white that conjure the image of stars. ASICS Tiger™ will release the latest additions to the GEL-LYTE III™ and GEL-RESPECTOR™ family with their Veg-Tan Pack, made using premium materials and striking details.

Vegetable tanned leather is undoubtedly one of the materials of the moment, and for this release Asics have utilized it to provide detailing on a duo of silhouettes. The Gel-Lyte III sports a predominantly OT Red upper in a combination of Pig Suede and woven mesh, with the Veg-Tan leather applied to the Tiger Stripes, heel and tongue label. The Gel-Respector features the same materials, but goes instead with a Black upper. Branding is kept discreet, with tonal embossed and printed logos on the tongue, heel and lateral side of each model. Both pairs sit on clean and contrasting Slight White midsoles, with the ever popular choice of Gum outsoles completing the look perfectly.
