A Minimalist Masterclass: adidas x Études
- The new collaboration from the FW18 UltraBOOST Collective
Paris-based Études ‘studio’ was founded in 2012 as a way of exploring and advancing global experiences of visual culture. Their work traverses mediums, but is most memorably conveyed through contemporary-minded fashion collections. Their UltraBOOST design slots seamlessly into their aesthetic: a deceptively refined, uncaged shoe rendered in shades of bright blue and deep black.
The blue uppers not only call to mind an iconic adidas colorway but also a shade that Études frequently uses to champion a strong, open and progressive Europe. The color, pared-back silhouette, and embroidered stars immediately catch the eye. Accompanying the Études UltraBOOST is a pack-away rain cape. Echoing the subtle details of its partner shoe, the cape is sleek and functional, with oversized tonal co-branding that runs the length of the cape’s reverse.
Both the adidas Consortium Ultraboost Uncaged x Études & the adidas Consortium x Études Rain Cape will launch on Saturday the 15th of September at limitEDitions Barcelona .

adidas Consortium x Bodega
01 . 09 . 18
adidas Consortium and Boston-based sneaker destination Bodega team up for a distinctive take on two key 2018 silhouettes.
For their FW18 collaboration with adidas Consortium, the team behind Boston’s renowned Bodega apply their combined sneakerhead instincts to two acclaimed silhouettes: the recently launched, terrace-culture inspired Kamanda, and another new style for 2018, the Sobakov. Applying the same ‘hidden in plain sight’ approach that led to the creation of their convenience-store shopfront, each pair incorporates a host of unusual details and cultural references without ever detracting from their distinctive silhouettes.
adidas Consortium x Bodega launches 1st September at limitEDitions Barcelona.
Like its spiritual predecessor the Kamanda, the soccer-inspired Sobakov features a heavily-treaded cupsole, crafted here from translucent rubber. The wraparound reflective three-stripes and red/black accenting call to mind a golden age of adidas soccer boots, namely the Precision version of the adidas Predator. Bodega brings soccer styling into the lifestyle arena through the use of buttery, weathered ‘bone’ suede: a design choice that encapsulates the pack's premium take on heritage details.
The Bodega iteration of the Kamanda sees it's update in a fusion of premium suede and techy textiles, featuring a subtle Bodega graphic print. The eye-catching cupsole here is moulded from translucent rubber for even more impact.

AW18 ADIDAS ORIGINALS X NBHD LOOKBOOK FEATURING CALI THORNHILL DEWITT
LAUNCHING 1ST SEPTEMBER
adidas and NEIGHBORHOOD first started working together in 2005, almost two decades after Neighborhood’s founder, Shinsuke Takizawa, was introduced to the brand. Inevitably, the very first partnership saw Takizawa creating his own version of the adidas Superstar shoes worn by the group, and the collaborations have grown and evolved ever since. Takizawa spent his formative years around Japanese motorcycle team and his counterculture/subculture instincts are at the heart of NEIGHBORHOOD. Each new collaboration sees Takizawa and adidas mining sportswear’s rich countercultural and tribal associations to create something both iconic and completely new.
INSPIRED BY TERRACE STYLE, CLASSIC SPORTSWEAR AND NOMADIC MOTORCYCLE TEAM, THE CAPSULE COLLECTION IS FILTERED THROUGH NEIGHBORHOOD AND DEWITT’S SHARED COUNTERCULTURE SPIRIT.
The AW18 capsule collection stays true to these ideals: inspired by a distinctly Japanese take on the classic sportswear of football terrace culture and the re-appropriated military garb of nomadic motorcycle gangs, with each piece featuring new graphics by Los Angeles-based artist Cali Thornhill DeWitt. A mainstay of the transgressive L.A. punk scene, DeWitt embodies the countercultural spirit of adidas x NEIGHBORHOOD: from appearing in drag on the CD artwork of Nirvana’s In Utero to designing Kanye West’s provocative 2016 tour merchandise. His work for the FW18 adidas x NEIGHBORHOOD capsule features the latter brand’s iconic ‘Old English’ font and a new ‘target’ graphic that invokes the ‘Mod’ culture that evolved into terrace culture. The words ‘Survive’ and ‘Under Attack’ evoke the rebel spirit of the terraces.
Along with DeWitt’s graphics, military-style runs throughout the collection. In the apparel offering, the centrepiece is an extended-length M65 field jacket, complete with a detachable Primaloft-padded inner vest. The NBHD Old English font can be seen on each of the four front pockets, while DeWitt’s target designs appear on both the left chest and above the zipped back pocket. Meanwhile, each of the three footwear styles – the Kamanda, Stan Smith and I-5923 – are updated takes on terrace favourites from over the years, available in military-inspired olive colourways. This buttery nubuck version of the Kamanda features the iconic, adidas Samba-inspired sole along with new asymmetric lacing, debossed NEIGHBORHOOD lettering and DeWitt’s tonal graphics. Furthermore, matching track tops and pants embroidered with the signature graphics and long and short-sleeved tees that evoke the training tops of football teams in the 70s and 80s round out the collection. Their retro styling is given a new lease of life through bold graphic treatments.
adidas x NEIGHBORHOOD AW18 will launch at limitEDitions Barcelona on September 1st.
